Jed Abell

Jed Abell, ASA, MAAA, is a highly skilled health insurance actuary with more than 20 years of experience in MA, Part D, and commercial employer group plans.

Before joining Wakely, Mr. Abell has extensive experience with modeling, forecasting, pricing, filing, and sales and underwriting support for both a Blue Cross plan and while overseeing multiple states for Humana. He has nearly 10 years experience on Medicare Advantage pricing and support with a focus on Medicare Part D. As the primary Part D actuary, Jed has overseen all aspects of Part D including experience and trend analysis, model development, preparation and certification of Part D bids. He has been the primary Part D contact for CMS desk reviews and bid audits. He has worked extensively with the PBM on formulary, network, and rebate analysis. He has been responsible for financial reporting, administrative cost projections, long term forecasts, and MLR filings for MA, MAPD, and PDP. He has heavily supported the operational area through various audits, vendor selection and implementation, and is familiar with the operational aspects of the MAO.

He excels in presenting complex actuarial data and concepts to diverse audiences and possesses strong technical proficiency in Microsoft Office products and SAS Enterprise Guide. He has a proven track record of delivering accurate and actionable insights.

Mr. Abell earned his bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Harding University. He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
