Tyson Reed, MS, FSA, MAAA, joined Wakely in 2017 and is associated with the Minneapolis office. He has worked on behalf of Medicaid organizations negotiating rates, managed Minnesota’s 1332 reinsurance waiver (Minnesota premium security plan), developed financial and trend reporting models, and worked on Medicare bids for both Part C and Part D.

Mr. Reed recently developed mining techniques for associating conditions in risk adjustment models with pharmaceutical and medical diagnosis data. He has an extensive background in big data and data structures for financial healthcare reporting, including risk adjustment and algorithms. He developed global allocation models on behalf of Medicaid organizations and helped develop quarterly and annual reporting for reinsurance programs in the Affordable Care Act market.

Mr. Reed earned his master’s degree in mathematics and statistics from the University of Nevada and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from St. Olaf College. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
