Julia Lambert FSA, MAAA, joined Wakely Consulting Group as a Principal in April 2008. Prior to Wakely, Julia was a Managing Principal and Medicare Actuarial Practice Leader at Reden & Anders where she served in a consulting capacity for eight years. She has provided assistance to a variety of managed care entities including HMOs, PPOs, insurance companies, employers, and risk taking health care providers on actuarial and financial issues. Julia has extensive experience with rate development for publicly sponsored managed care programs including Medicaid, Medicare, and high risk pools. She was member of the Medicaid Rate Certification Work Group of the American Academy of Actuaries (AAA) that published the “Actuarial Certification of Rates for the Medicaid Managed Care Programs” Practice Note.
Julia provides assistance analyzing detailed claims experience, projecting medical expense budgets, analyzing provider contracts and evaluating unpaid claim liabilities. She also provides assistance to managed care entities regarding Medicare and Medicaid risk contracts, including rate range negotiations, feasibility studies, medical expense developments and rate certifications.
Julia has been an active member of the American Academy of Actuaries and has served on subcommittee work groups. She has also provided assistance to the Society of Actuaries in examination grading and recently served as an executive board member for the Colorado Strategy and HealthCare Management organization.
Julia has an undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and a Master’s of Science degree in Mathematics from Colorado University in Boulder. Prior to becoming a consultant in 1998, Julia worked for insurance companies for five years.
