A purpose-driven executive, Aany Tazmin-Ewing delivers tailored solutions to clients’ most complex challenges, improving complicated systems for the diverse members served in the government sponsored healthcare space. Aany specializes in the intersection of actuarial, finance, policy and health equity considerations. She has subject matter expertise in Medicaid capitation rate setting, value-based care and healthcare analytics.
Before joining Wakely Consulting Group, an HMA Company, Aany provided actuarial services to nine different Medicaid managed care plans within Centene. Most recently, Aany served as Delaware First Health’s chief financial officer (CFO), overseeing the development of all the new subsidiary health plan’s financial and analytical functions. She managed the plan’s $350 million annual operating budget and implemented new financial management policies designed to secure and maintain certification as a Medicaid Managed Care Organization.
Aany is known for her mastery of the complex landscape of actuarial soundness in Medicaid and associated regulatory guidance. Because of her expertise, she was selected to serve on a nine-person national task force charged with revising Actuarial Standard of Practice 49, which governs capitation rate setting for Medicaid Managed Care.
Aany specializes in planning, early identification, communication, and mitigation of issues, opportunities and risks that can determine the ultimate viability of health plans and other entities operating in low-margin government sponsored healthcare spaces. Her technical abilities are well-matched by her awareness and insight into operational challenges.
She has provided actuarial services to chief executive officers (CEOs) and CFOs for new and mature plans and served as CFO for a plan launching three new business lines. Her experience informs her approach to comprehensive support of clients, from operating plan development, risk assessment and management, market analysis, pricing and capitation rate setting and financial modeling.
Aany earned a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of Oregon and a bachelor’s degree in Theatre from Grinnell College.
Outside of work, Aany enjoys rock climbing, traveling, playing board games and picking up new book recommendations.
