On November 25, 2025, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the “CY2027 Policy and Technical Changes to the Medicare Advantage Program, Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit Program, and Medicare Cost Plan Program”. The deadline to submit comments is January 26, 2026.
The Proposed Rule includes numerous suggested regulations for the contract year 2027 and beyond affecting the implementation of certain provisions of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 and the Substance Use-Disorder Prevention that Promotes Opioid Recovery and Treatment for Patients and Communities Act of 2018, enhancing and strengthening the Medicare Advantage and Medicare Prescription Drug programs, changes to the Quality Rating System (Star Rating), improvements for Special Needs Plans, and outlining ways to reduce burden and cost in accordance with Executive Orders.
